Power Distribution Units (PDUs) for Data Centers

The three main types of PDUs in data centers are: (1) Main Distribution PDUs — high-capacity units like switchboards and switchgear (400A–4000A) that receive power from the utility and distribute it downstream; (2) Remote Power Panels (RPPs) — intermediate distribution units (225A–1600A) that feed individual rows or zones; and (3) Rack PDUs — smaller strip-style units mounted inside server racks. DEI Power specializes in the first two categories.

DEI Power's Remote Power Panels are available in 225A, 400A, 600A, 800A, 1200A, and 1600A configurations. Each rating supports different deployment scales — from small edge compute sites at 225A to hyperscale data center main distribution at 1200A–1600A. All units support multiple voltage configurations including 208Y/120V and 480Y/277V.

DEI Power RPPs support up to 84 branch circuits depending on the amperage rating and configuration. The 225A model supports up to 42 circuits, the 400A up to 60, the 600A up to 72, and the 800A–1200A models support up to 84 branch circuits. Optional branch circuit monitoring is also available for enhanced visibility and load management.

Yes. All DEI Power Remote Power Panels and switchgear are UL 891 certified and manufactured as a Siemens Approved OEM solution. This ensures every unit meets national safety and code compliance standards required for data center, colocation, and critical facility installations. Units are also EUSERC Approved and comply with UBC, CBC, and IBC seismic zone requirements.

DEI Power maintains in-stock RPP inventory at its 50,000 sq. ft. Ontario, California facility, enabling shipment within 1 business day for in-stock units with delivery in 3–5 business days. Built-to-order and custom-configured RPPs carry typical lead times of 4–6 weeks — significantly faster than the industry-standard 12–16 week lead times. Rush and emergency replacement orders are supported.

They are wall-mounted for space efficiency and available in configurations suited to multi-tenant colocation rows, AI/GPU compute clusters, and large-scale hyperscale pod deployments.
